Year of Burning Hay

The year is 1976 – many remember it as ‘the long, hot summer’ – and the book starts with a body. This is no ‘whodunnit’, however; the killer is revealed on page one.

In Year of Burning Hay it is the victim whose identity remains a mystery until the climax – making it a genre-defying ‘whoisitdunto’?

The plot also offers an analogy for the rise of Thatcherism.

Year of Burning Hay remains unpublished. Although its worth was recognised when its submission package was shortlisted for the 2006 Yeovil Literary Prize.
